Percy can't speak...not because he's lost the power of speech, but because
his emotions are overwhelming him. It makes sense now...why Ripley is his
Manifestation...she was the last thing he saw before he...no he can't think
of that. He will break if he thinks of his own death. He focuses on Vex, of
easing her pain for he cannot stand seeing her cry....he cannot stand to
see her hurting. He longs to go to her but he can't...can't make himself
move. He swallows a few times and finally finds his voice again.
"I...hope the letter brought all of you the comfort I meant it to," he says
in a horse tone of voice, "I wrote it.....after..well it doesn't matter
when it was...but I wanted you all to know how much you all meant to me." A
few lines hadn't felt like enough for that and yet he'd tried, tried so
hard to put into words the feelings he didn't often let himself feel.
Her next words give him pause again and he does not know what to
say.....he's loved all of Vox Machina, but the twins....they were as deeply
hurt as he was and he'd felt drawn to them as soon as they'd met. It was
why what he'd done in the tomb hurt him so deeply....he'd hurt the people
most important to him and the guilt weighed him down hurting his soul. What
can he say here that will not feel false because the mere words. "I love
you," don't feel like enough.
